The third Climate Law Winter School, which focused on International, European and Cuban Law and Climate Litigation, took place on December 8 – 12, 2025. This year, the lectures were given by Prof. Dr. Yvonne Karimi-Schmidt (Department for International Law and International Relations, University of Graz) and Dr. Renate Pirstner-Ebner (who gave digital lectures - Research Centre for Climate Law, University of Graz) and the young Cuban professors: Jean Alberto, Sheyla Val, Amanda Alvarez and Cosette Ramos.
The winter school under the direction of Prof. Dagniselys Toledano (University of Havana) and Dr. Renate Pirstner-Ebner was organised by the Research Centre for Climate Law Graz (ClimLaw:Graz), the Institute for International Law and International Relations and the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana. This year's topics had been, among others, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on climate change (July 2025), the advisory opinion on climate change of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (May 2024), and the legal standing, victim status extraterritorial jurisdiction and the violation of Art 6 and Art 8 ECHR (among others ECHR-case KlimaseniorInnen/Switzerland 2024) in the context of climate change and the European Convention on Human Rights.
