Teaching Climate Law in Havana

Dr. Renate Pirstner-Ebner took up a lectureship in Climate Energy Law for law students at the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana from 21.6.2022-2.7.2022. During this stay, a deepening of the cooperation was agreed upon with the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Marta Moreno Cruz, Prof. Dagniselys Toledano and Prof. Elisabeth Valdesmiranda. Besides this, Dr. Pirstner-Ebner visited the Cuban Forum for Sustainable Energy 2022 and the International Seminar on Energy Efficiency.

Die einen feiern sie als Meilenstein für den Naturschutz, andere verteufeln sie als existenzielle Bedrohung für die Landwirtschaft: Die im August 2024 in Kraft getretene EU-Renaturierungsverordnung gilt als Herzstück des European Green Deal. Ihr Ziel: die Wiederherstellung geschädigter Ökosysteme in den Mitgliedsstaaten. Gerhard Schnedl, Jurist am Forschungszentrum für Klimaschutzrecht „ClimLaw:Graz“, hält sie für absolut notwendig. Was ihre Umsetzung insbesondere für die Land- und Forstwirtschaft bedeutet, steht im Fokus des 7. Grazer Umweltrechtsforums am 20. November.
