Atieh Khatibi
Atieh Khatibi is a committed and accomplished legal scholar with a diverse background in environmental law and policymaking, primarily focusing on climate change law and environmental science engineering, with an emphasis on sustainable development and policymaking. She holds both a BSc and MSc in Natural Resources Engineering from renowned universities in Iran, Isfahan University of Technology and the University of Tehran respectively. She also holds Bachelor of Law and Master in Environmental law. Presently, she serves as a Research Project Assistant at the ClimLaw Center on the "Climate Law, Environment, and Human Rights" project, while pursuing her PhD at the University of Graz. In addition to her academic pursuits, she obtained a fellowship in 2019 and worked for adelphi in Berlin as a Project Assistant under the Cross Culture Programme, concentrating on the Climate Action programme in Iran and researching climate mitigation targets outlined in National Determined Contributions (NDC). Atieh has extensive experience in national and international projects, including collaborations with UNDP Iran on initiatives like the International Carbon Sequestration and Hamoun wetland conservation and management (Sistan Project). Furthermore, she contributed over five years to the Integrated Coastal Zone Management project (ICZM) in Iran's southern provinces. With expertise in facilitation and mediation, demonstrated by her role as an International Mediation Campus Fellow based in Germany, Atieh is dedicated to addressing climate change and peacebuilding and has been recognized as a 2021 Climate Ambassador by the Global Youth Climate Network. Her substantial research contributions, including publications in prestigious journals and participation in policy briefs, underscore her proficiency in environmental decision-making frameworks and international environmental law. With a strong foundation in decision-making tools and legal expertise, Atieh is well-positioned to make significant contributions to environmental law, sustainable development, human rights, and peacebuilding.
