Dr Renate Pirstner-Ebner (ClimLaw: Graz) gave a presentation on “Energy communities and peer-to-peer-trading in Austrian law” and chaired session 3 (“Energy security and security of supply”) at the 3rd ELAWNET-conference, which took place at the University of Oslo on 9.6.2026. This Conference was organised by the Department of Energy and Resources Law of the
University of Oslo under the direction of the head of this department: Prof. Catherine Banet. The conference covered a wide range of topics, from the promotion of renewable energies, energy supply security, artificial intelligence and data centers, incentive systems for new energy technologies, and just energy transition, through to regulatory approaches for energy transformation. The topics were presented by more than 20 speakers from universities around the world (including the UK, the USA, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, France, Finland, India, …).

Dr. Renate Pirstner-Ebner also participated in the 2nd International Energy and Climate Law Forum on the topic “Use of the underground for the energy transition – Comparative regulatory approaches”, which took place on 11.6.2026 at the University of Oslo, organised by the European Research Platform on Energy and Climate Law under the direction of Prof. Catherine Banet. The conference dealt with “Subsurface Law” focusing on geothermal energy, carbon capture and nuclear waste storage, and rare strategic raw materials.
